Travelers Along Our Journey

Child #1: Miss A, 19-month-old girl, already in care for two months with another foster home, when she arrived in September 2009. We had nine days to prepare for our first addition. The case ended in termination of parents' rights in August 2010. Adoption consummation occurred in September 2011. Read more about her here.

Child #2: Spunky Girl, 3-year-old girl, placed with us after being removed from relative care for safety issues there, January 2010. This was an emergency placement; she was in our home around three hours after we received the phone call from our caseworker. The case ended in reunification for her and baby brother (Child #3, below) in September 2010. Read more about her here.

Child #3: Premie Boy, placed in July 2010. He was sibling of Child #2, but this pregnancy was not apparent when she was placed into our home initially. Was born two months premature and spent six weeks in the NICU. We did not know for sure if he would come to our home until the emergency placement call; we picked him up two days later after several visits with him in the NICU. The case ended in reunification for him and big sister (Child #2, above) in September 2010. Read more about him here.

Child #4: Little Guy, 4-month-old boy, placed in our home after being removed from relative placement for safety issues, February 2011. This was an emergency placement; we had about five hours to prepare. After six months, teenaged bio mom asked us to adopt him. Relinquishment happened in October 2011 and adoption consummation occurred in December 2012. Read more about him here.

Child #5: Newborn Baby Girl, arrived at our house in January 2013 as an emergency placement (two hours to prepare). Our portion of the case ended in March 2013 when her placement was changed to bio grandparents who were not available at the time of her initial placement with us. Read more about her here.

Children #6 and #7: Sweet Angel and Queen Bee, 2-year-old twin girls. The girls arrived on November 4th, 2013. Biological parents of this duo from a group of five siblings had already lost custody years before; the kids were removed from the cousins who were fostering them. They are a foster-adopt placement and eventually were joined with -

Child #8: Big Sister, 12-year old girl. The twins were with us 10 months, and Big Sister 3 months when they were moved to the custody of the twins' grandparents with their two other siblings so they could be together. Read about this case here.

Child #9:The tank, 18-month-old boy. Was with us almost 4 weeks, sadly removed due to a problem with our license that ended up being someone else's license problem, not ours; our family file number was wrongly attached to a different family's case file. Very tough situation. We were almost ready to quit forever when we were placed two weeks later with -

Children #10 and #11: Brown-Eyed Baby Girl, newborn, and Curly Sue, 4-year-old girl. We received a call for the girls on a Friday afternoon, and the older sister was in our home for dinner that night. Baby was in the hospital NICU for two more weeks until we were able to bring her home, at 2 months old. Relinquishment and termination happened in September 2015, and adoption was consummated on December 22nd, 2015.
